The French Influence Keeps Coming Out in my Art!

Lately, I have been having some fun with scrolls. I have been in a "frenchy" mood for quite a while and seems that  sometimes painting the roses just isn't enough. Here are a couple of pieces of  furniture I have added some scrolls to.

I'm Starting to Feel the Personality of My Country House

As I have been busy creating my shop which is so pale in color and very shabby french and romantic, I also have been waiting to sense a feeling for the rest of the house, the part where I live. The outside is a painted white sideing with garden green shutters, and the windows have black trim which I love. I knew that I wanted to incorporate the outside colors into the inside but wasn't quite sure how. This may shock some of you but I'm feeling it and bringing in the pale garden green on the kitchen walls with black and deep rasberry red accents. I describe it as "Romantic Country French Farm style" I may be crazy but I love it! Here are some photos of what I have done so far.

I'm in Love with 18th Century Style and Design

There is just something about the 18th centurys' design style that makes my heart go pitter - patter, from the art to the beautifully decorated furniture. I find so much of my inspirations from that time in history. Here is a wonderful website I happened upon which specializes in all things from that era. http://18thcatelier.com/

Treasure for the "Marketplace"!

Wow! I have been non-stop busy. All the treasure in this chest is almost processed and has a place in my shop just waiting for our big Marketplace event. One of the last things I'm going to do is embellish this chest with a garland of hand painted roses, and that happens today! I'm starting to put all the finishing touches to things that I have prepared for the guests. And I can't wait to greet all the vendors again, and see all the treasure they have obtained, they are such wonderful creative women! Such fun we have, please come and join us if you can.Christie

Today I'm Missing the Beach

I've lived in the country for 7 months now and after being raised and living most of my adult life at the beach, people are always asking if I miss it. My answer has usually been not really except missing my friends and fellow artists. I guess it's partly because of the amount of work it's taken to get settled in the country, cleaning up a large house and property and re-organizing my art business has had my whole attention. For some reason today as I was scanning photos of past art I did while living in Laguna Beach, my heart seemed to ache just a little as I was reminiscing. I hope you enjoy some of my"none rose"paintings.
