Inspiration From An Old Painting

You never know where inspiration will come from! And as most of you know, I'm getting ready for another show and with each show I'm always looking for new ideas to decorate my booth. The idea for the curtains in my booth came from a vintage painting I found on the internet, totally unexspected! The seed was planted. Then when I was out flea-market shopping I came across a pair of 1940's light pink with satin striped ribbon twin bedcovers and a vintage millinery hat with lots of roses on it, and then later on ebay I found cream polka-dot sheer yardage. So today was spent re-creating the inspiration from the painting," my way"! I have to say it turned out pretty girly, maybe I will use them in a bedroom after the show! XO Christie

  3. Dearest Christie,

At first when I saw the thumbnail on my sidebar I thought you'd taken a photo of my first bedroom in our Dutch apartment! So funny. That was also pink over sheer and the same bedspread in pink. Your's turned out perfect; what a genius you are ongoing. So talented for dreaming up things and DOING it.
Wish you a great Sunday and of course a great preparation time for the upcoming show.

    Love to you,

    Mariette

  12. Those are so pretty, I particularly liked the tiny satin ruffle running down the edges...so they were bedspread coverlets turned into draperies? So nice..the polka dots are extra whipped cream on top.

  15. Christie, so beautiful! It reminds me of when I was growing up, my mother always had those pretty criss cross curtains. This should go in your book as mentioned above, along with instructions on how to paint roses. I would buy it too!

  18. Christie,
I love the painting. I'm eyeing the desk and stool. We have a very similar desk that was my Grandmother's. The curtains are beautiful. Can't wait to see your booth at the show!

  19. How pretty...I love getting inspirations from different sources. I got the idea to use mirrors as my kitchen backsplash for a Manet painting. Fun!
